The Objective
The objective of Sequence is to combine cards into sequences of either houses (three or more cards of the same suit) or allies (three or four cards of the same rank).
How To Play
- When playing with 3-4 people, each player is dealt 10 cards. When playing with just 2 people, each person only gets 7 cards. The highest ranking member will be the score keeper and the lowest ranking member will be the dealer.
- The dealer must deal out hands counterclockwise and puts the undealt cards face-down on the center of the table as the stock. They will start the discard pile with the top card from the stock.
- The player to the left of the dealer plays first. They can either pick up the card on the discard pile or the top card from the stock.
- If the player can create a sequence of their cards, combining them into houses or allies (as described above), they can put these down on the table, face up. If not, the player must discard one card from their hand, face-up onto the discard pile, and the turn of play moves to the next player.
- The next player can either pick up the last card the previous player discarded or the top card from the stock. They can then create sequences some or all of their card. The play continues clockwise around the table. When the stock runs out, shuffle the discard pile and set it up again.
Adding to existing sequences
A player can put down a card (or cards) on the table that fits with another player's sequence already on the table. For example, if one player has put down three 7s, the other player can add the final 7 to the sequence. Or if one player has made a sequence of a Duke of Castles, Duchess of Castles, and Noble Child, of Castles, then another player can add a Soldier of Castles to the sequence.
Other Rules
- You cannot discard a card you just picked up during that turn.
